EX-POLICE OFFICERS ARRESTED FOR HIJACKING FUEL TRUCK IN ENUGU

In a shocking development, the Nigeria Police confirmed the arrest of three former officers for hijacking a DAF SF Truck carrying 40,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) on May 29, 2024, along the Ohodo-Opi Road in Igbo-Etiti LGA, Enugu State. The suspects, ex-Insp. Otache Egbe, ex-Insp. Abah Solomon, and ex-Sgt. James Mamah, were dismissed police officers.

The operation, which led to the rescue of the abducted driver and motor boy, also saw the recovery of significant exhibits, including two AK-47 rifles, 105 rounds of ammunition, and various security uniforms. The suspects have confessed to their crimes and are now under investigation by the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, emphasized the Force’s commitment to eradicating criminal elements and warned that the law will catch up with those engaging in criminal activities. The public is urged to support the police in maintaining safety and security.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed that justice will be served, with the suspects set to appear in court soon.
