OKRIKA COUNCILLORS VICTIMIZED FOR SUPPORTING GOVERNOR SIM FUBARA; OFFICES LOOTED

Six councillors from Okrika Local Government Area have reported being targeted and their offices looted after declaring support for Governor SIM Fubara.

Speaking on behalf of the affected councillors, Hon. Ibinabo Williams, representing Ward 2, informed the press that he and his five colleagues returned to work on Monday, May 20, 2024, only to find that all personal and government properties had been stolen from their offices.

Hon. Williams expressed his bewilderment at the selective targeting, noting that only those who openly supported Governor Fubara were victims of this unlawful act. He confirmed that the security agencies and relevant authorities have been notified. Despite this political witch hunt, he affirmed their unwavering support for the amiable Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

The councillors affected by this incident include:

  1. Hon. Gilbert Wakama – Ward 1
  2. Hon. Ibinabo Williams – Ward 2
  3. Hon. Sobere Tomquin – Ward 6
  4. Hon. Tamunokuro Fubara George – Ward 8
  5. Hon. Prince Bipialaka – Ward 9
  6. Hon. Iselema Reuben – Ward 10

This incident has raised concerns about the lengths to which some uncultured politicians may go to undermine supporters of the governor, sparking calls for justice and increased security measures.
