Abia: Ndoki Communities Raises Alarm Over Annexation

During the visit of Ndoki people under the aegis of Ndoki Community Development Union to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State took a grave tone as they sounded the alarm over continuous land encroachment by neighboring Akwa Ibom state. Led by President General Chief Uche Sunday Aja, the Union voiced concerns about daily incursions by Ika, Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun Local Government Areas, backed by the Akwa Ibom state government, into Ndoki territory. They implored Governor Otti to take decisive action to prevent further annexation attempts, emphasizing the need to safeguard Ndoki communities’ territorial integrity.

The Union’s plea came amidst expressions of gratitude for the governor’s efforts in providing essential amenities and infrastructure. However, the pressing issue of boundary disputes took center stage, with fears of territorial loss looming large.

In response, Governor Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajabga PhD, assured the Union of his commitment to addressing the annexation threat. He urged against resorting to self-help and pledged immediate intervention, promising to engage with authorities to protect Ndoki lands.

As tensions rise over territorial boundaries, the fate of Ndoki communities hangs in the balance. With the governor’s assurance of action, the Ndokis remains steadfast in their resolve to defend their ancestral lands against encroachment.
