The Rivers State Police Command, in collaboration with the Intelligence Response Team and the Delta State Police Command, successfully apprehended the notorious crime lord, Peter ‘Daddy’ Chukwu, in the early hours of April 5, 2024.

Chukwu, also known as Oboni, had terrorized communities with his multi-faceted criminal enterprise, including cultism, kidnapping, murder, and assassination. Rising to prominence as the executioner-general of the Iceland cult group under the infamous Johnson Igwedibia, alias ‘Don Waney’, Chukwu’s reign of terror instilled fear across Rivers State.

His atrocities included targeted killings of community leaders, massacres, and brutal acts of violence against those who opposed him. Despite being declared wanted by the police, he continued to operate with impunity, orchestrating assassinations and evading capture.

However, following intense police efforts and a nationwide manhunt, Chukwu was finally located in Asaba, Delta State, where he sought spiritual fortification in a herbalist’s home. In a coordinated operation involving the Rivers State Command Tactical Team and the Intelligence Response Team, with support from the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Chukwu was cornered and engaged in a fierce confrontation.

Resisting arrest, Chukwu attempted to flee but was fatally wounded in the process. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. With Chukwu’s demise, efforts are now underway to apprehend his associates and sponsors, ensuring justice for the victims of his heinous crimes.
