GOV FUBARA VOWS TO STRENGTHEN CIVIL SERVICE AMIDST TEACHERS’ APPEAL

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to bolstering the civil service to enhance growth and productivity within the state. Speaking to members of the Forum of Rivers State Government Teachers holding Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees during a peaceful appeal-walk to the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara assured that his government would address their concerns regarding proper placement and transfer to tertiary institutions.

Represented by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Governor Fubara emphasized his administration’s comprehension of the challenges faced by civil and public servants, citing his own background as a technocrat and former teacher. He assured the teachers that their plight was well understood and would be given proper attention.

Teachers with PhD

Addressing the misconception surrounding PhD degrees in Rivers State, Governor Fubara dismissed claims of fraudulence, urging aspiring individuals not to be discouraged. He emphasized the value of genuine academic achievements and pledged to uphold their integrity within the state’s educational system.

Governor Fubara advised the teachers to prepare for screening processes to ensure deserving candidates are appropriately placed, citing previous successful resolutions of similar issues. Dr. Thompson Ofuru, Coordinator of the Forum of Rivers State Government Teachers with PhDs, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present their appeals directly to the Governor and emphasized the benefits of transferring their services to tertiary institutions for research purposes.

Dr. Ofuru also extended thanks to Governor Fubara for the N100,000 Christmas bonus given to all civil servants in the state. The Governor assured the teachers that their concerns would be thoroughly addressed in alignment with the administration’s commitment to serving the people of Rivers State.
