Police Arrest Robbery Suspects and Cult Members Linked to Murders

In a concerted effort to quell the surge of violence plaguing the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Police Command, alongside the C4i Strike Force and Diobu Vigilante, launched a targeted operation resulting in the arrest of Samuel Nwokoma, a 25-year-old male and a member of the notorious BLOOD STAR (BS) Cult group.

According to a press release signed by SP. Grace Iringe-Koko, ANIPR, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Nwokoma confessed to his involvement in two specific incidents of violence. The first incident occurred on the 14th of March, 2024, where Ede Sunday, a 32-year-old male, fell victim to a fatal shooting at Nanka Street by Lumumba, Diobu. The second incident took place on the 16th of March, 2024, when George Johnson, a 28-year-old male, was shot in the chest at Ojoto Street by Emenike, Diobu, succumbing to his injuries despite immediate medical attention.

The arrest of Nwokoma led authorities to the gang’s hideout at Ogu Waterside, Diobu, where a cache of weapons and ammunition was discovered. The recovered items include three AK-47 rifles, one assault rifle, various rounds of live ammunition, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and charms.

As efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects intensify, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State CP Olatunji Disu, appealed for continued cooperation from members of the public. “By providing useful information, residents can play a pivotal role in ensuring the swift apprehension of all individuals involved in criminal activities, thereby fostering a safer environment for all” he said.
