Opobo/Nkoro LGA Distributes FG Palliative to Alleviate Hardship

In a bid to alleviate the prevailing hardship in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, the council under the leadership of Rt. Hon(Dr) Enyiada Cookey-Gam, DSSRS Balolo Of Opobo Kingdom, distributed federal government palliative measures to all 11 wards within the LGA.

Supervising the handover and distribution process, Chairman Enyiada Cookey-Gam ensured the fair allocation of resources to committee representatives from various political parties, civil society organizations, NGOs, stakeholders, and ward councilors.

During the distribution, which saw the delivery of foodstuffs such as rice and maize to each ward, Chairman Cookey-Gam emphasized the importance of impartial distribution, urging stakeholders to ensure that the palliative reaches all residents regardless of political affiliation. The distribution followed a mandated template aimed at fair and transparent allocation.

With 30 bags of rice, 40 bags of maize, and additional items allocated to each ward, the initiative aims to mitigate the challenges faced by residents amidst economic hardship, representing a significant effort by the federal government to support vulnerable communities.

Responding to the Chairman’s impassioned plea for thorough distribution, stakeholders and councillors reaffirmed their commitment to adhering to the directives of the palliative committee, promising to ensure that the resources reach those most in need.
