Police Officers Suspended for Extortion in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has taken action against three officers accused of engaging in extortion.

Inspector Michael Odey was dismissed from duty on February 7, 2024, following thorough proceedings.

ASP Doubara Edonyabo and ASP Talent Mungo are suspended from duty as their cases undergo review by higher authorities.

A press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Police Command; SP. Grace Iringe-Koko, ANIPR revealed the Police Service Commission authorized their suspension effective from February 29, 2024. Their salaries have been halted, and they will face the Force Disciplinary Committee.

SP airings-Koko said the decisive action aims to deter misconduct among officers and uphold credible policing principles,” The command is committed to fostering a safe environment for all residents and will continue working diligently in the public’s best interests”.
