Uche Okwukwu Applauds Governor Fubara’s Leadership

Uche Okwukwu, the former Rivers State Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and founder of the Congress for the Liberation of Ikwerre People, lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent initiatives, notably the long-awaited promotion of civil servants and the distribution of one hundred thousand Naira Christmas bonuses to all tiers of civil servants in December 2023.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Okwukwu expressed heartfelt admiration for Governor Fubara’s actions, particularly in addressing the protracted issue of civil servant promotions, which had been neglected for a decade. He underscored the significance of these promotions, acknowledging the strain on workers who had gone without advancement for so long, stating, “Working for ten years without promotion can be immensely disheartening.”

Okwukwu emphasized the positive impact of Governor Fubara’s gestures, highlighting the joy it brought to families during the festive season. He urged unity among Rivers people in supporting the governor’s vision for progress, noting the legitimacy of Fubara’s electoral victory, which had withstood legal challenges up to the Supreme Court.

Commending Governor Fubara’s early achievements, Okwukwu cited the Port Harcourt Ring Road project as evidence of the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development. Expressing confidence in Fubara’s popularity and prospects for reelection in 2027, he declared, “Fubara will do eight years. He will win the 2027 governorship election.”

Okwukwu called on the Ikwerre people to rally behind Governor Fubara, emphasizing the need for reciprocity given the support received from other ethnic groups during their tenure in power. He reiterated his commitment to supporting effective leadership, regardless of personal political affiliations, pledging continued support for Governor Fubara’s reelection bid in 2027 based on his track record of delivering results for Rivers State.
