Army Apprehend Suspected Kidnappers

Recover Vehicle and Weapons in Edo State Operation

The Nigerian Army troops of Headquarters 4 Brigade, under OPERATION WABAIZIGAN, have successfully apprehended a suspected kidnapper and gun runner, Ekenaye Festus, alongside four accomplices in the vicinity of Agbor Road, Iguomor Community, located in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The operation, prompted by actionable intelligence provided by vigilant citizens, culminated in the arrest of individuals believed to be responsible for a spate of criminal activities, including kidnappings, within the state.

According to the press statement released by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, the suspects, identified as Isaac Oghosa, Ameh Innocent, Odion Okpako, and Ajayi Ayoola, were apprehended in the early hours of February 25, 2024. They are currently in custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

During the operation, a significant cache of items was recovered, underscoring the extent of the suspects’ alleged criminal activities. Among the seized items were a Hilux Vehicle bearing registration number Lagos SMK 219 FX, equipped with emergency lights, as well as various communication devices, including handheld radios and torchlight phones. Additionally, personal items such as desert boots, a fragmentation jacket, and a jackknife pouch were confiscated, along with several charms believed to be used for nefarious purposes.

Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo, Commander of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their dedication and urged the public to continue providing support to enhance the operational efficiency of the military in fulfilling its constitutional duties.
