In a bid to fortify the intelligence capabilities of the Police Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has issued directives for the deployment of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to lead the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Commands across the country.
The move stems from the IGP’s commitment to elevating the efficiency of the Intelligence Department at all levels, aiming to counter the rising crime rate in the nation, aligning with his overarching vision statement. Upon assuming office, the IGP had reinstated the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a Department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni to oversee the newly established Department of Force Intelligence.
The newly posted Senior Officers are entrusted with leveraging intelligence-based resources to combat crimes within their respective areas of jurisdiction. IGP Egbetokun has emphasized the need for professionalism and the application of their extensive experience to fortify the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.
This strategic posting of ACPs to key positions within the Intelligence Department takes immediate effect. The IGP’s proactive measures reflect a determined effort to strengthen internal security measures across the nation.Follow us on social media
