Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket, has refuted claims of his exclusion from the Edo State Gubernatorial race. Despite reports by the Julius Ihonvbere-led screening panel, Ize-Iyamu asserts that he remains firmly in the race, poised to clinch victory in the upcoming primaries.
Speaking at the Benin Airport on Saturday, Ize-Iyamu addressed supporters and APC leaders, dismissing the screening committee’s findings as mere rumors. He emphasized that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has given clear directives, allowing all aspirants to purchase governorship nomination forms.
“I want to assure you that I am in the race, and by next week, by the grace of God, I will buy the expression of interest form,” said Ize-Iyamu. He reassured the public that any Edo person is worthy of the ticket and affirmed that their support would not be in vain.
Addressing concerns about the screening committee’s decisions, Ize-Iyamu referenced the NWC’s statement, stating, “The highest organ of our party issued a statement on the Edo governorship election and specifically said that all those who have aspirations to run for governorship should go and collect the forms.”
Refuting exclusion rumors, Ize-Iyamu highlighted the NWC’s role in screening aspirants and affirmed his determination to contest and win the election. Regarding his relationship with Adams Oshiomhole, he described it as cordial, emphasizing their years of collaboration and mutual respect.Follow us on social media
