SUPREME COURT RESERVES JUDGEMENT IN RIVERS STATE GUBER APPEAL

Rivers State people earnestly await the pronouncement of Supreme Court on the 2023 gubernatorial election. The conclusion of the litigation will usher a sigh of relief to the elected governor to be more focus on delivering the dividends of democracy to the People.

As the stipulated days for the hearing and passing of judgement on the Rivers State Gubernatorial Appeal between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Arc Tonye Cole draw it curtain close on the 26th of January,2024.

The five Supreme Court Judges presiding over the matter in their wisdom reserves judgement to a day that will be communicated to the parties involved.

During the hearing the lawyer representing Mr Innocent Ekwu the gubernatorial candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) was advised to withdraw his case following his inability to prove the presence of his client in the 2023 Rivers State gubernatorial ballot paper. His case was thrown out for lack of merit, as he tactically withdrawn his appeal.

The Nigeria Supreme Court premises witnessed the presence of Rivers State bigwigs and People’s Democratic party faithfuls.

The presence of Arc Tonye Cole the Apc candidate in the 2023 guber race was seen in the courtroom in the company of Asita O Asita as the only ally still standing with him in the fruitless litigation.

It was on record that The All Progressives Congress, APC, withdrew the petition it filed to nullify the declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sim Fubara, as winner of the March 18 governorship election in Rivers State. A move which Tonye Cole disagreed with from the onset.
