Concerned Youths of Rivers State Issue Warning Against Political Unrest

In a strongly worded press statement addressed to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
the Concerned Youths of Rivers State expressed their deep concern over the escalating political tension in the state. The statement highlighted the factionalization of the State House of Assembly and accused the Amaewhule-led faction, allegedly sponsored by former governor and Minister of FCT, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike, of deliberately breaching peace processes.

Despite interventions by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to maintain peace, the group alleged that the Amaewhule-led faction, with the backing of the Inspector General of Police and Rivers State Police Command, continued to disrupt the Assembly’s proceedings at odd hours. The press release emphasized the perceived bias of the police in providing security cover for the dissident lawmakers.

Chimarooke Ogbonna, Chairman of the Concerned Youths, stated that they could no longer tolerate such actions, viewing them as an affront on the people, especially the youths of Rivers State. The statement warned of resistance from the people against any further breaches of the law and disregard for the judiciary, insisting on the need for immediate action to prevent a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.

The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his office to call the Inspector General of Police to order and to warn all involved parties, including Chief Nyesom Wike, against actions that could lead to political unrest in Rivers State. The press release concluded by expressing gratitude to the President and an expectation of swift and decisive actions in response to their concerns.
