In the wake of the recent political turmoil in Rivers State, Hon. Father Lawrence Bagbe, the former caretaker chairman of Khana Local Government Area, has expressed his solidarity with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The political crisis unfolded on October 30, 2023, when members of the Rivers State House of Assembly attempted to impeach Governor Fubara.
Father Lawrence, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Khana Local Government Area, held a press conference with his supporters in Kaani Babbe on December 4, 2023. During the conference, he pledged unwavering support for Governor Fubara, praising his achievements in job creation, infrastructure development, and revitalizing stalled projects within a short period.
“As Babbe people, we stand united in supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara. His dedication to job creation and infrastructure development has been remarkable, and we believe in his leadership. We will stand by him against any attempt to remove him from office,” declared Father Lawrence.
Addressing the Rivers State House of Assembly, he urged members to abandon any plot against Governor Fubara and instead collaborate with him to foster peace and development in the state. Father Lawrence criticized Senator Barinaadaa Mpigi of Rivers South East Senatorial District for advocating the governor’s replacement, challenging Mpigi to account for his contributions to the senatorial district before supporting moves to depose a democratically elected governor.Follow us on social media
