Two suspected cultists were gunned down on Sunday, Novermber 12, 2023 by officers of the Rivers state police after they invaded Odiemerenyi Community in Ahoada-East Local Government Area in search of informants.
Prior to the police’s arrival, the hoodlums had already killed five residents. However, the police were able to overpower the attackers and fatally wound two of them.
The Commissioner of Police Rivers State, CP Olatunji Disu has ordered intensified efforts to arrest the wanted leader, David Gift aka 2Baba, and other fleeing suspects.
David Gift and his gang members had been declared wanted by the Rivers state Government over the death of the late DPO of Ahoada Divisional Police station, SP Bako Angbashim.
According to a statement released by the command’s PPRO, Grace Iringe-Koko, the police said adequate security measures have been put in place, and residents are urged to continue with their lawful activities without fear.
The police spokesperson also extended condolences to the families of the victims.
