In a successful operation, the Rivers State Police Command has neutralized a notorious gang leader and recovered arms and ammunition. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Octopus strike force intercepted the gang members who were hiding out in a hotel along Etche road, Etche L.G.A.
The gang leader, wanted for several crimes including the amputation of a victim’s leg during a robbery, opened fire in an attempt to escape arrest but was taken down by the police’s superior firepower.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The police recovered an AK47 rifle, two magazines, 21 rounds of ammunition, and police handcuffs with a key.

Two individuals, believed to be receivers of the stolen vehicle, were also apprehended. Investigations are underway to capture the remaining members of the gang.
