NNPC Refutes Claims Of Fuel Subsidy Revival.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims of reintroducing petrol subsidy. Despite the closure of several filling stations nationwide due to challenges in the downstream oil sector, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, clarified that fuel subsidy has not been reinstated.

He noted that the queues observed at petrol stations across the country were a result of distribution issues rather than a lack of supply from the South to the North.

Additionally, Kyari mentioned that the NNPCL would have faced financial difficulties in June if President Bola Tinubu had not put a halt to petrol subsidy in May.

These statements from Kyari contradict the recent confirmation by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) about the return of fuel subsidy.
