In continuation of his state-wide familiarisation visits, the honourable commissioner for youth development, Dr Chisom Kenneth Gbali reassured the commitment of His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara led administration to the welfare of youths in the state.
During the visit to Opobo/Nkoro LGA on Tuesday, he revealed that the state government has a critical agenda to see that youths of Rivers State are properly equipped with relevant skills to see them excel and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the state. He listed ICT, entrepreneurship, vocational training, education etc as part of programs through which the government will transform the youths.
The honourable commissioner urged the youths to keep faith with the government as their welfare and development is a priority for the Sim led administration.
In furtherance to that, the commissioner commendable the efforts of Opobo/Nkoro council boss for the visionary leadership and good governance with which he has not only change the landscape, but also earned confidence in the ability of the youths to lead and provide good governance.
Receiving the honourable commissioner and his delegation, the Council Chairman, Rt Hon. (Dr) Enyiada Cookey-Gam DSSRS, Balolo of Opobo Kingdom commended the State Government for organizing the ongoing youth entrepreneurship development training, aimed at equipping and engaging the youths in profitable ventures. He also informed the commissioner of his empowerment program outlined to impact over 200 youths of the LGA with different skills as well as grants to over 100 traders. The chairman took the commissioner on a facility tour round the skills acquisition center for the training of the youths,
He assured that his administration would continue to partner and support programmes, targeted at improving the lot of the youths, making them productive and self-reliant.
Also the NYCN LGA Coodinator, Amb Sim Fubara who thanked the commissioner with vision and youthful energy to carry on this programme, He assured him of the cooperation of Opobo/Nkoro LGA youth involvement in every programme by the state government.
