Zamfara: Residents Kidnap Wives Of Terrorists In Retaliation For Abduction Of Farmers

Residents of Kiyaw in Zamfara State have resorted to unconventional measures to combat the incessant attacks by terrorists in their community. In a bold move, the dwellers intercepted the wives of terrorists, including a pregnant woman, as they were returning to their hideouts. This act of retaliation sheds light on the increasing desperation and fear gripping the region due to continuous terrorist attacks.

A youth leader from Birnin Magaji, who spoke to PRNigeria, confirmed the community’s actions. He explained that this drastic step was taken in response to the relentless assaults by terrorists on their community. These attacks have made daily life a perilous endeavor for the residents. “The bandits invaded the farm and threatened the farmers before they took them away,” the youth leader recounted. “These days, many people here cannot go to the farm, and even in our homes, we are afraid they could come and abduct us for ransom.”

The situation in Zamfara has seen a surge in terrorist activities, with the recent kidnapping of at least 80 children in the Tsafe Local Government Area drawing national attention. This incident served as a stark reminder of the looming threat that these criminal elements pose to the region. Furthermore, in a separate incident, Nigerian security forces initiated a search operation for eight kidnapped National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State. These corps members, on their way from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State for their one-year national service, had their journey interrupted by terrorists.

The actions of the Birnin Magaji community reflect the growing frustration and desperation among residents who find themselves living in fear amid the recurring attacks by terrorists. The situation in Zamfara demands urgent attention and robust security measures to restore peace and protect the lives of its citizens.
