POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR HOODLUMS WHO KILLED AN OFFICER IN PORT HARCOURT:

Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command has confirmed the killing of one of its officers in Port Harcourt on Friday, August 25.

The police PPRO, Grace Iringe-Koko revealed this in a press statement on Saturday. According to her, the command received information that a male Inspector attached to the department of Operations, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state was shot in the head by hoodlums while he was on escort with his principal around Landmark Hotel, Oroworukwo, Olu Obasanjo Road, Port Harcourt.

She said the hoodlums made away with the victims riffle and beret, but that patrol teams has since been mobilised to recover the items and bring the fleeing killer-squad to justice.

Corpse of the dead officer has been deposited at the Military hospital for autopsy.

The Police PPRO assured that further information will be made available as developments about the incident unfolds.

At the moment information is still sketchy whether it was an assassination attempt on the principal or the officer was the main target. Many questions are still begging for answers, but the Gist is sourcing for details and will keep you informed with findings.
