President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has suspended indefinitely, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Bawa Abdulrasheed.
In a press release issued by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, it was revealed that Bawa’s suspension was to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office following weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.
“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation”, the statement read.
Abdulrasheed Bawa is a Nigerian detective and law enforcement agent who served as the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from 24 February 2021 till date. He replaced Umar Mohammed Abba, the acting Chairman of the commission.
