…as governor Fubara urges NASS members-elect on direct compliance
Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara has directed National Assembly members-elect from the state to strictly comply with the choice of the ruling party at the centre during the proposed proclamation for the 10th Assembly in Abuja.
The governor put out the charge in a meeting with the National Assembly members-elect of Rivers State at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt on Friday.
In a press statement by his Senior Special Assistant on media, Sir Fubara maintained that the state position of the state is to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) preferred candidates for leadership of the National Assembly; Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senator President and Hon Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker, House of Representatives.
He asserted that the position of the State should be the interest of all elected national assembly members from Rivers State who are expected to be formally admitted to either of the chambers when proclaimed. He equally charged them not to veer off the declared interest of the state during the proclamation, urging them to remain united at home and national front.
Senator Barry Mpigi who spoke on behalf of the members-elect commended Gov. Siminalayi Fubara for the strategic meeting and assured that members will certainly work in line with the charge.Follow us on social media
