GUNMEN KILL MUSICIAN IN KHANA COMMUNITY

On Sunday, gunmen suspected of being cultists invaded Opouko community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State , killing one Paul Torpie Nwimae, a musician, and injuring and robbing others at gunpoint.

According to an eyewitness, the attack occurred around 9 a.m. on Sunday (today) at a community sit-in.

According to a community source who narrated what happened. ,” we were in the church about to say the grace to close the church when someone ran into the church and asking us to close the church service because gunmen had invaded the community and were shooting sporadically. “

He went on to say that “we ran into the community and saw a crowd gathered, and saw the lifeless body of the musician on the ground”

“We have traditional leaders, we have political leaders, we have a local government and our community is abandoned at the mercy of gunmen”

Phone calls made to the council Chairman had not been responded to as of the filing of this report; however, the divisional police officer in Bori, SP Bako Angbashim, confirmed the killing and has stormed the community in an operation to apprehend the killers. He told our correspondent that he and his men were already in the community conducting operations and that he would speak with Gist later.

Gunmen invading Opouko communities, killing and destroying property, have become a recurring problem. Residents in the community are concerned that if immediate action is not taken, the entire community will be wiped out one day.
