Nigerian banks commence the reconfiguration of ATMs to identify the new naira notes, and over-the- counter payments from today Thursday.
This was coming three weeks after the unveiling during FEC meeting in Aso Rock Villa by the Presidency.
A total of N2.75tn out of the N3.3tn in circulation, are still outside the banking sector.
Meanwhile banks officials are complaining that the new currency they’ve received from CBN is small compared to the demands by customers.
The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, express doubt in meeting the circulation date-line, having acknowledged that 85 per cent of the total currency in circulation was being hoarded by Nigerians.
