A successful World Cup for Qatar would be viewed as an achievement on the global stage, and a blow by Arab adversaries who dislike Qatar for supporting outlawed Islamist movements.
The World cup will project Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the 42 years ruler of Qatar as a legitimate global player, despite international criticism of his religious fanatical stance on global contemporary issues.
Qatar has been surrounded with controversy since it won the bid to host 2022 World Cup, as the first Middle East nation. Qatar will be showcasing itself as a modern country in progress, with it new construction spree of highways, metro stadiums, new airports and seaports, and hundreds of buildings, hotels and restaurants awaiting over 1.2 million visitors.
