In mitigating the impact of the flood ravaged areas in Rivers State, Switch-On in alliance with SIM Media Volunteers continued its reach out to flood victims currently domiciled in Community Secondary School, Edeoha.
The team leader of Switch-On Mrs Sotonye Toby Fulton narrated the message of the visioner who mandated the team to provide relief materials for the displaced persons in various IDP Camps across the state.
Speaking on Sunday, November 6 at Edeoha IDP Camp, Mrs Toby Fulton highlighted that Switch-On has come to provide succour to victims who have been adversely impacted, noting that for no fault of theirs, the natural disaster swept them away from homes, cutting off their comfort and means of livelihood. She assured them that from time to time, the NGO will reach out to them. Likewise, she prayed and called on other NGOs, captains of industries, government and spirited individuals to also come to the aid of the victims.
Receiving the team in warm hospitality, the executive chairman of Ahoada East, Hon (Barr) Benjamin Eke expressed his profound appreciation to the visioner and the entire Switch-On team for rendering a hand of fellowship to his people. He guaranteed that the relief materials will be equitably distributed to the victims.
Mrs Charity, one of the victims who spoke on behalf of the flood victims at Edeoha Camp, expressed joy for the intervention, maintaining that the magnitude of items donated is unprecedented, to which she heartily thanked the donors.
Lastly, the Switch-On team had a brief stopover at the Palace of His Majesty, Nye Udu Felix Enene Otuwarikpo Ph.D, Upata III of Upata Kingdom, who in his briefing appreciated the governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his timely and coordinated response to the natural disaster in the land. He however noted that the most pressing challenge at the moment is medical intervention for the internally displaced flood victims.
King Upata III in company of the Chairman Ekpeye Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Ikaki S. Ikaki, in a show of appreciation, pronounced royal blessings on the visioner and the entire team that visited his palace.
