It is only few deft politicians that understand this basic principle of politicking and graciously utilising it.So, while some go on political rigmarole in the name of reaching out, those with uncommon political pedigree see opportunity with every grassroots event to make vital political statement.Of course, that was exactly what played out at Bori, the traditional headquarters of the Ogonis yesterday, October 29, 2022 at the inauguration and flag of door to door campaign of Ogoni Sim Vanguard (OSV).
It was a total show of love and SIMplification as His Royal Highness, Mene Barile Deebom, Gbenemene Ken-Khana and the entire traditional rulers council went into frenzy to confer on Sir Siminalayi Fubara the traditional title of Mene Lee Gbo 1 of Ogoni land (The Good Friend of Ogoni People).
Apparently, that conferment was a loud message to Rivers people and the other political parties candidates that Ogoni land is united behind Sir Siminalayi Fubara as a genuine friend of the people.The event has become a major boost to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the candidature of Sim Fubara as the only governorship candidate with wider acceptability across Rivers State.
It is also an indication that despite a son of the land being a gubernatorial candidate of another party, Ogoni people will not be ungrateful to the PDP, a party under which administration the ethnic nation has witnessed unprecedented infrastructural development.
They have therefore vowed to reciprocate such good gesture by massively voting for the PDP, not just because of what they have benefitted, but in demonstration of friendship and brotherliness with the Opobo people, where Sir Sim Fubara hails from.It further shows that the steps of a good man is properly guided and often enjoys the goodwill of friendship.
With such mammoth crowd that thronged the event, Sir Sim Fubara is only cruising to victory in Ogoni land to consolidate the vision of transformation that has visited the people.Indeed, when a people is rational, they stand to lose nothing, but to gain all through strategic positioning, which the Ogoni people have demonstrated.
To those who often wants to stereotype the Ogonis, the deafening message from yesterday’s event is enough to let them know that Ogonis are wise and reasonable people who can make decisions that will advance their cause. And very instructive too, they will be more comfortable feeling safe with Sir Siminalayi Fubara and the PDP having neither to weigh thoughts or measure words in attending to their needs in due course.
It is on that foundation that we sincerely solicit same support from you and other Rivers people to join this ship that is already sailing to victory with clear vision of consolidating the new Rivers vision. It guarantees the immeasurable prosperity for our people and anchored by humane technocrat and scholar, SIM/Ngozi.
The vision is already speaking as it is to unite Rivers people for a common cause of consolidation for their prosperity. Your vote for the PDP on March 11, 2023 is therefore a vote for this two great Rivers people to be governor and deputy come May 29, 2023. May you also be part of the joy and rejoicing that herald these two to the Government House on that day.
