O.J. Edafe’s 26th minute goal from the spot sent the Navi Mumbai D Y Patil Sports Stadium into jubilation as the Flamingos took the lead in the thrilling encounter.
The US side struck back in the 40th minute through A.M. Villarreal to restore parity before the break.
On resumption, USA missed a couple of clear chances and were eventually punished in the penalties as the Flamingos advance to semifinals of the World Cup for the first with a 4-3 victory.
