The strain between Beijing and Taipei diplomatic relationship have worsen since after the August visit of U.S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
On Sunday the presidential island office of Taiwan said, “Taiwan will not back down on its sovereignty or compromise on freedom and democracy, and its people clearly oppose Beijing’s idea of one country, two systems management for Taiwan.”
This was coming in response to Chinese President Xi Jinping opening speech during the Communist Party Congress in Beijing, where he said ” it is up to the Chinese people to resolve the Taiwan issue and China will never renounce the use of force over Taiwan.
Maintaining security and order in Taiwan, which China consider as its region required dialogue between both parties, and not turning the Taiwan Strait in to a theatre of war.
In one of his quote during the Communist Party Congress at Beijing, President Xi ,
“In the face of serious provocations from separatist activities by Taiwan independence forces and interference in Taiwan affairs by external forces, we have resolutely waged a major struggle against separatism and interference, demonstrating our strong determination and ability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and oppose Taiwan independence.”
Meanwhile, Taiwan have vowed not to back down on its sovereignty or compromise on freedom and democracy.
