As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed that large quantity of the PVC are lying uncollected at the various offices across the State, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections in Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has charged Bonny electorate not to relent until they have collected their plastic permanent voters cards (PVC).
The guber candidate added that under no guise should they give out the details on their cards to people, even if they present empowerment forms to hoodwink them, stating that it is all sham.
Sir Fubara further commended Bonny people at the Grassroots Development Initiatives (GDI) PVC sensitisation rally in Bonny, Bonny local government area of the State on Saturday, August 13, 2022 for their display of brotherly bond between Opobo and Bonny kingdoms and indeed the Ibani nation.
He admonished the people to endeavour to pick all their PVCs still in the custody of INEC, ensuring that it is protected diligently, awaiting the D-day.
Addressing the people, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo also noted that 2023 is a PVC election and that votes must count.
The President general of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) Chief Bright Amaewhule charged the people to maintain vigilance to ensure they are not shortchanged during the PVC collection process.
Earlier, the host chairman, Alabota Dame Anengi Barasua (JP) in her welcome address expressed her satisfaction with their level of preparation for the forthcoming season and urged those who are yet to pick their PVCs to do so without further hesitation.
Among those in Fubara’s entourage at the event were, the PDP Deputy state chairman, Mr Aaron Chukwuemeka and other executive members, the Deputy Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie; the Majority leader of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Martin Amaewhule; Former Commissioner Civil Service commission, Mrs Sotonye Toby Fulton, Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Engr. Samuel Nwanosike and Chairman of Andoni LGA, Barr Erastus Awortu, other council chairmen, prominent government officials and chieftains of the party.
