RIVERS YOUTH HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM IN COMMEMORATION OF UN YOUTH DAY

The National Youth Council Nigeria Rivers state Chapter in collaboration with Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development host the United Nations 2022 International Youth Day.

The World theme for 2022 Youth Day is “Intergenerational Solidarity Creating A World For All Ages”.
Intergenerational solidarity is degree of closeness and support between different generations. Which will help people of different generation to understand their differences and depend on one another for a better society.

The youth event held at Horlikins Event Place , Port Harcourt features; Press Release, Interactive Session, Rivers state Youth Leadership Summit and Award ceremony.

The opening address was presented by Dr Roland Obed-Whyte the Permanent Secretary Rivers state Ministry of Youth Development, where he present the message of achieving the Sustainable development goals and awareness on breaking intergenerational barriers and solidarity for a better society.

The Key Note Lecture , titled “Inter-generational Solidarity Creating A World Of All Ages” was delivered by Prof Daprim Ogaji. He emphasised on the usefulness of the young and old to the society.

The Second Lecture of the youth event was presented by Prof Sofiri Joab Peterside, with the title “Role of Nigeria Youth in wealth creation “. He posit that Youth empowerment is Nigeria best option for wealth creation and economic growth.

Rev Canon Christian Amadi delivered the third Lecture on “Eliminating Educational inequalities as a basis for building world for all ages “.

The youth leadership summit session was interactive as guest speakers interact with youths through questions and answers.

The goodwill message was delivered by Dr Mrs Ngozi Odu the PDP Deputy Governor candidate, on behalf of Sir Siminalayi Fubara. She informed the youth that they are held in high esteem, and is highly delighted to be a guest of Rivers 2022 Youth Day.
Dr Odu said that the present Government of Rivers state have special interest in the youth, that by God’s grace when they emerge, they will build on the existing development of the youth in the state. Delivering her speech, she appealed to the youth to keep pace with him, as they are determined to run with the youth and cannot run without them.

Dr Ngozi Odu emphasis on the theme of United Nation Youth Day 2022, and announced that she is like the bridge between the old and the youth, that the youth and the old will be there together to make the difference. Finally, she admonished the youth not to allow anybody take away there self-esteem.

The climax of the youth day was the presentation of awards to recipients.
The recipients includes Amb Chigioke Ihunwo who recieved the “Outstanding Youth Leadership Award” presented to him by Dr Ngozi Odu.

Bishop Dr Uche Juliet Elue received “Youth Friendly Faith-Based Organization Award” presented to her by Chief Allwell Onyesoh the senatorial Candidate for Rivers East Senatorial District, while “Youth Entrepreneurship and Business Development Award goes to Dr Momoh Yusuf Mustapha.
