Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleke has won the Osun 2022 governorship election, polling over 400,000 votes to defeat the incumbent governor of the state.
The dancing senator as he is popularly called was declared winner and returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC returning officer for the election.
In 2018, Sen Ademola came very close to winning, but lost out narrowly in the end. Nevertheless, 2022 has landed him the much desired victory in grand style as he defeated the sitting governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, winning 17 local government areas out of the 30 LGAs in the state.
Shortly after winning the election, Senator Ademola Adeleke expressed gratitude to Osun people, promising not to take their mandate for granted, “My dear Osun people, the day we have been waiting for is here.
