In an exclusive interview in Vatican City, Pope Francis debunks rumours of his resignation. The rumours of his resignation is coming after series of event , which includes meetings with his cardinals to discuss a new Vatican constitution, a ceremony to induct new cardinals and a visit to Italian city of L’Aquila which traditionally is been viewed as a resignation announcement.
L’Aquila is been associated with Pope Celestine V in 1294 and Pope Benedict XVI 2013 , who both resigned after they visited the city.
Though Pope Francis repeatedly stated that he might resigned if failing health made it impossible for him to run the Church.
During a media chat on Saturday , the 85 years old pontiff strongly condemned, abortion following the U.S Supreme Court ruling last month. He compared it to in his words “hiring a hit man”. “I ask: Is it legitimate, is it right, to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem?”
Speaking of the situation in Ukraine, Francis noted that there have been contacts between Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about a possible trip to Moscow.Follow us on social media
